What your IP address reveals

An IP address tells a website your approximate city, your internet provider, and — most importantly for account work — the connection type: residential, mobile, datacenter, or a known VPN range. Consumer platforms trust residential and mobile IPs and challenge datacenter ranges, which is why the proxy behind a session matters as much as the browser in front of it. The three checks that catch most proxies

Check	What detection systems look for
IP reputation	Is the IP a datacenter range, a known VPN exit, or shared by flagged accounts?
Timezone/language consistency	Does the browser's timezone and language match the IP's country? A New York IP with an Asia/Kolkata timezone is an instant flag.
WebRTC leak	Does WebRTC expose a different (real) IP than the one the connection shows?

What is a WebRTC leak?

WebRTC — the browser technology behind video calls — gathers your device's network addresses to connect peers, and a website can trigger that gathering silently. Behind many proxies, WebRTC still reports your real IP outside the tunnel. The test above runs the same probe a tracking script would, entirely inside your browser; nothing is uploaded.
